Had tried one other vest that shall remain nameless, returned it because of bad zipper attachment. This one seems very sturdy and has good sized pockets. There is one zippered across the back that does hold my graphite tripod, two one the insides of the front panels, holds my 70-200 Nikon lens. Front pockets I haven't filled yet but 2 extra batteries and memory card room, GPS, compass, whatever. It also distributes weight better than a back pack and I actually wore a hydration pack under it on our recent hikes in Death Valley. For the price this is an excellent little vest. It is excellent for fishing, hiking, travel, photography, or at the gun range. Plenty of pockets, both inside and outside, for just about anything you would want to carry, including a full size conceal-carry firearm. I have carried a full size simi-auto.45 on both the inside and outside pockets of this vest. Either way you choose to carry, inside or outside, the exterior waste pockets keep the firearm from 'imprinting.' The quality of the vest is good. No loose stitches have been noticed. The vest is loaded with pockets whose sizes are very practical for a photographer. I've easily packed 2 filter cases, 2 lenses, assorted accessories ( batteries, memory cards), a remote cable release and still have pockets for other odds and ends. Depending on how you organize the vest there are pockets for wallets, keys, cell phones. And that's not all...there's a large side-zippered pocket in the back for fold-able rain gear or a bottle of water or some food. It's probably not good for equipment because of the side zipper. The vest is priced right. If you're looking for a photographer's vest this just might be the one to get. A year ago I got my first Uncle Milty Vest and loved the heck out of it.I'm a true XL so that was the size I got and went with the green vest since it was going to be used exclusively for fishing. I figured the darker color wouldn't show stains as much as a lighter colored vest would. First off, during the summer I found that the darker color absorbed far more heat from the sun than I thought it would so I found myself taking the vest off on sunny days, even those with the temps only in the mid, to low 70's.Right from the start I noticed that the vest felt larger than I needed, which came in handy during late fall fishing. On nights when the temp got down into the low 30's I was able to wear up to 5 layers under the vest so the extra room worked to my benefit.Going into this year's …

EDIT: 11-2014After using this on a trip abroad to SE Asia I can say I'm very satisfied with it and I'd buy one again with no hesitation.The zippers are a little less rugged than I'd like but they held up well and didn't come apart or snag. The pockets have an elastic band around the top that helps keep stuff from falling out of the pockets even when the pocket flap isn't sealed, and this was a real lifesaver on several occasions (it kept me from losing my wallet and some other high-value items).The pockets held everything I carried- sunglasses, 2 cameras, wallet, passport, lighter, cigarettes, sweatbands, cellphone, extra batteries, pen and paper notepad, mini-flashlight, breath spray, a mini-tripod, my MP3 player and earbuds, etc etc etc.The vest is lightweight but still pretty rugged …

I purchased this vest as an alternative for a backpack while geocaching. It has more than enough pockets to hold my phone, gps, and swag. I found the back pocket a little difficult to access while wearing the vest but not impossible. That shouldn't be a problem as I don't intend on using the back pocket. I read the other reviews concerning size and glad I did. I am 5'6 and weigh 207lbs and where I would usually order XL or larger, I ordered a large and it fits perfect for me. It is loose but not baggy. I haven't actually tested it while geocaching but I loaded it up with what I would normally carry and wore it for a few hours.
