This is an interesting item with many possibilities. The downloadable software ElfKey is required to setup a key assignment for each pedal. You are not limited to a single key, you can actually set an entire phrase and one tap of the pedal will enter it just like you typed it. Setup for work with three commonly entered phrases and this could be a real time saver. You can even set keyboard actions like cut/paste and link them to a pedal. It does keep the key assignment even when unplugged and this is actually what you have to do to use it with Linux. Set it up first on Windows or Mac and then move it to your Linux machine. I did try that, and it worked. I did not try ElfKey with WINE. Since once it is setup it functions the same as a keyboard, it is also possible to use the software reWASD

You get 3 buttons that you can program to do just about anything (Key Press, Mouse Press, Run a Script / Program).Download the programming software, and you can program each pedal to do what you want. You can even control if it sends for example, 1 keystroke, or repeating keystrokes and more.I look forward to using this when I create video postings of my reviews to help switch camera shots more naturally.Nice Product, I do recommend it.

This is our review for the PCsensor Foot Pedal.We ordered this because everyone in our household uses computers and we wanted to try it. We wanted to see how it works to use with our feet while we are eating or using our hands for something else.This is great because it is easy to map keystrokes or a macro to the pedals. It is a great concept because some stuff is just easier to do in a different way like pumping a pedal with your foot or if you have an arm/shoulder/neck/wrist/etc. injury as you can take some of the burden off those parts and just use your feet.The only downside we saw is that it seems cheaply made. First, this is a review of the "Anti-interference USB" model. I did some research before placing my order and the photoelectric version is silent. That actually makes a lot of sense if you're in a situation where audio could be an issue such as a video stream or recording booth, but personally, I wanted a nice tactile feel and audible click when I used the pedals, not unlike how I prefer mechanical keyboards for typing.The hardware is quite pleasantly made. The pedals push well and if you're like me and are a bit of a fidgeter you'll actually be tempted to find excuses to use them more often. Program macros and more with a quick foot press!This footswitch setup seemed very appealing, as I often have a variety of devices in use at one given time. It's helpful to sometimes have dedicated controls for an application.I used the "anti-interference" usb model, which I'm not exactly sure what it does. It just seems like a normal switch. There is an audible click (think mechanical keyboard) when you press on these pedals, so it may not be the best for use cases where you are in a recording studio (you may want the photoelectric version). I would have preferred a much quieter switch in the pedal, as there's zero need for this thing to be loud.
