Artista biografía Much like the paintings of singer/songwriter/performer and painter Tim Bowen, his music takes pieces from everyday life- objects, themes, emotions, etc. and blends peaceful yet thought provoking imagery that often leaves a listener tapping or humming any one of the 14 original songs on VARIETY, Bowen's first full-length release. A Philadelphia native, Bowen contributed to the birth of garage rock with the Philadelphia based seminal '70's group The Boneheads. Imagine pop music with a twist...sort of like David Lowery of Camper Van Beethoven meets George Jones by way of Liverpool if you will. Influenced as a youngster by the diversity of 60's AM pop radio, Bowen launched his musical career in junior high school which continued in various incarnations through college and right up to the birth of modern rock. Opening for such acts as the B52s, Brian Setzer, Nico of the Velvet Underground and one-step-beyond's Madness, Bowen has transcended popular music with a laissez faire approach. During the years he spent concentrating on his painting career, which included time in Rome, (Bowen's work can be found in collections that include Forbes, Aramark and Wills Eye Hospital) Bowen constantly noted the homogenization of pop music and grew more and more perturbed. He believes that music is a gift, not something that should be ego driven or judged by record sales, and in the tradition of great musicians, Bowen doesn't make any attempt to create anything other than true uninhibited music. VARIETY contains 14 songs that range from country twang to Americana to pop to beautiful ballads to good ol' rock and roll. The album was produced by legendary Philly drummer George Manney, whose recent credits include producer for the Rolling Hayseeds and Burn Witch Burn. Manney is also credited as being the founding member of the "last minute jam" at the immortally-remembered (and sorely missed) J.C.Dobbs. In addition, VARIETY features major contributions from keyboardist Rocco Notte, co-founder and principle songwriter for Arista recording group and Philly's own The A's. Glenn A.
